New York Chic

Hey Friends!!
I am all about mixing expensive, more formal pieces with casual, less pricey pieces!! As a high school student, I don’t have endless funds to spend on expensive clothing so instead I mix a few splurge pieces with less expensive clothing items. In my opinion this is a great way to look chic on a budget and gives the most unique look to any outfit. For this look I styled a casual “Brooklyn” sweatshirt with some pieces that give off a more “Upper East Side” look!  I wore this “Brooklyn” sweatshirt from J Crew with navy tie shorts from Abercrombie, a pearl necklace from J Crew, and platinum Hermes sandals. I received this “Brooklyn” sweatshirt for Christmas this year and I love how casual yet classy it looks! Unlike most sweatshirts, it is not over-sized and actually has cropped sleeves which I think makes it perfect for everyday wear. I styled this with navy, paper bag, tie shorts that I got from Abercrombie a few years ago. Unfortunately they are not still available but I have linked many similar options! For jewelry, I wore this pearl necklace from J Crew. I adore this necklace because it is a more casual twist on your typical pearl necklace. Instead of closing in the back with a clasp, it ties with a gray ribbon. As far as shoes, I went with a more formal look with these platinum Hermes sandals. These sandals go with EVERYTHING and are the perfect formal addition to this outfit.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas!!! XOXO

  2. Your style is so gorgeous! Love the idea of a few staple, more expensive items paired with less expensive ones. https://kissesofconfidenceblog.wordpress.com/
